The best time to visit Barbados is generally during the dry season from December to April. During these months, you can enjoy sunny weather and lower chances of rain. If you’re interested in experiencing the lively Crop Over festival, plan your trip between June and August.
However, Barbados is a year-round destination! Even during the wetter months from May to November, you can still have a great time – potentially even fewer crowds and lower rates.

The Carlisle Marine Park is a wonderful place to observe the vibrant marine life that inhabits the area. Oistins Fish Fry (Friday Night Experience)
End your first day in Oistins, where you can immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of Oistins Fish Fry. Especially on a Friday, it’s THE place to be on the island. On a regular weekday, you can still savor fresh Bajan cuisine, partake in live music, and witness the vibrant culture of the island.
Barbados Itinerary Day 2: Island Tour & Hidden Beaches
If you’re visiting Barbados, you just have to do an island tour as part of any itinerary. To really make the most of Barbados’ hidden gems, a rental car is essential. Public transport can get you around, but it won’t let you explore the island at your own pace.
With a car, you can hit the sunrise at Pebbles Beach, wander the trails of Coco Hill Forest, and hop between Dover, Crane, and Bottom Bay without rushing. I recommend booking your car in advance – this way, you have the freedom to follow this itinerary exactly and uncover all the off-the-beaten-path spots Barbados has to offer.
Pebbles Beach Sunrise (With Racehorses!)
Top Barbados itinerary tip: Every morning, the horses from the local stables are taken to Pebbles Beach for a bath. It’s a unique and traditional practice that adds to the cultural charm and is something you shouldn’t miss!
Coco Hill Forest
Head to Coco Hill Forest in the morning to really enjoy half a day of hiking the area. This serene and enchanting location provides the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in Barbados’ natural beauty. Those views and hikes make it one of the real must-see places of any Barbados itinerary and one that many don’t even know exists!
It’s the last piece of virgin rainforest on the island and, therefore, super important for the local ecosystem. Every visit contributes to helping plant trees, but it indirectly helps rebuild the soil. Consequently, every new tree will help improve the earth the Bajans live on.
It’s best if you join a guided tour to learn about the diverse flora and fauna that call the forest home. One of the highlights of the hike is The Cathedral, an area of King Palm trees that are just jaw-dropping. Before you leave, stop at the treetop walkway to enjoy panoramic views of the island’s tropical landscapes.
Dover Beach
In the afternoon, head back towards Christ Church parish and visit Dover Beach. This pristine white sandy beach also features some of the best clear turquoise waters.
Besides the picturesque shoreline and coastal views, you’ll also find the Southern Palms Beach Club hotel here- just a dream in pink. A place I’d totally stay in next time!
Right next to it, you’ll find St. Lawrence Gap. This area is known for its lively nightlife, offering an array of bars, restaurants, and entertainment venues. It’s just a wonderful place to stroll along the shore, watch people go for a run and see the sunset. If you’re lucky, you might find the man who is famous for selling elaborate cocktails on Rockley Beach – ideal to end the day!
Because of its location, it is also a fantastic place to observe nesting Hawksbill turtles!
Day 3: Slow Down, Beach Time and the East Coast
While Barbados is known for its popular tourist spots, the real magic lies in its hidden off-the-beaten-path spots. This is the day to linger, drive slower, and stop when something catches your eye.
Crane Beach
Embark on a beach-hopping excursion and begin at the iconic Crane Beach, famous for its pink-tinged sand and dramatic cliffs. This is one of the best things to do when in Barbados on a sunny day. If you’re craving a drink, there’s a lovely man at the entrance of the beach, ready to make you a coconut cocktail!
After Crane Beach, head to nearby Bottom Bay, known for its breathtaking views, clear blue waters, and coconut palms. It’s an excellent spot for a leisurely stroll along the shore and to take in the natural beauty of the area.
Next, make your way to Foul Bay. This one is a more secluded beach with a rugged coastline and rolling waves – a favorite of the locals!

As you’re already in the area, you should visit St. Nicholas Abbey Plantation, a renowned historical plantation in Barbados.
